1. Spring Black Tie

    March 20, 2013

    There are few things more exciting than an invitation to a black tie event. There aren’t many reasons in life to wear floor-length gowns and dance the night away, after all! I think there’s a bit of an expectation that black tie has to mean ballrooms and crystal chandeliers and what not, but just like any other wedding, they can absolutely be styled in ways that reflect the bride and groom perfectly. For today’s inspiration board, I used a loose color palette of pale blue, leaf green, and slate gray to come up with a black tie wedding concept that’s a little more romantic and soft than what people may usually expect. I would love to score an invite to this one!

    Do you get butterflies over black tie events, or do you prefer a more relaxed setting for a wedding? I’d love to hear!

    Love, Lisa

  2. Gilded Peach

    August 8, 2012

    The prettiest shade of peach is one of my all-time favorite colors. Since it will be playing a role in my new blog design launching soon, I thought it would be fun to build a peach-hued inspiration board this week. Rather than the vintage or Southern rustic spin that peach weddings often seem to take, I accented this one with gold and a few subtle polka dots for a more elegant, formal look. I love the way it turned out!

    If you love peach like I do, you might like some of my past inspiration boards, like Southern Garden, Autumn Blush, or French Vintage Romance. What can I say–it’s an inspirational color to me! Is there a color or color combination that never fails to inspire you? Let me know–my favorite comment will be the inspiration for next week’s board! :)

    Love,

    Lisa

  3. Love List

    July 20, 2012

    Another week come and gone! It’s been another busy one, but the end of summer classes is in sight, and I’m trying to fill up my weekends with real summer activities. My best friend from high school is coming to visit this weekend, and I’m looking forward to catching up and showing her my favorite places in Austin. After that, it’s on to one of my finals, a visit from my boyfriend, and hopefully a weekend getaway that I don’t want to jinx by writing about before the plane ticket prices go down! :) Till then, here are some favorites from the week.

    {As I raved in the comment section, this wedding posted my by dear friend Lena had practically every detail I would want at my hypothetical black tie wedding. Vera Wang dress, peach flowers, polka dot bowties, gold chiavaris, stunning calligraphy? Check and check! By m three studio via A Crimson Kiss}

    {Much like the first picture in today’s love list, this shot put an instant smile on my face! I love thinking about the joy that must have been felt in this moment. By The Reason via Southern Weddings}

    {One of my biggest wedding pet peeves is a gorgeously styled table…only to be downgraded by an unsightly dinner roll at each place setting. I love that a handful of photographers and stylists got to work creating much more appealing bread place settings for Once Wed! By Jose Villa via Once Wed}

    Have a good weekend!

    Love,

    Lisa

  4. Dress Envy

    May 31, 2012

    We’re keeping things short and sweet around here today, because it is my first day of summer classes and things have been a bit crazy over the last few days! Thankfully, a dress as incredible as this one doesn’t require much talking.

    The crumb catcher neckline, the dramatic bow, the pleats and folds–of course, it’s none other than a Vera Wang! This lovely Texan bride wore this gown at her elegant black tie wedding in Los Angeles, and it looked completely perfect. Take a look at more pictures by Erin Hearts Court over on Style Me Pretty!

    Lisa

  5. Bridal Style: Black Tie Beautiful

    May 8, 2012

    It’s time for my second installment of the Bridal Style column! Last time, I shared ideas for the pink-loving, floral perfume-wearing Girly Girl bride, and for today, I chose something a bit more classic and elegant.

    The Black Tie Beautiful Bride Essentials
    {Bride: 4Eyes Photography via Style Me Pretty| 1. Alexander McQueen Black Lace Print Clutch| 2. Butter London “Diamond Geezer” nail polish| 3. BaubleBar Edwardian Cascade earrings| 4. Miu Miu Jeweled Peep-toe Satin Pumps}

    The Black Tie Beautiful Bride looks for any excuse to don an evening gown. She saves up so she can treat herself to diamonds and designer shoes. She can never turn down a Laduree macaron. She finds inspiration in ballet and the opera. She couldn’t imagine getting married in flats.

    How would you describe the Black Tie Beautiful bride? Any necessities I missed?

    Love,

    Lisa
