1. Dress Envy: Jillian of Mimi Nicole

    July 12, 2012

In case you missed the lovely Tamra last week, I’m going to spend the next few weeks sharing the wedding dresses of some of my absolute favorite bloggers! Today’s blogger bride is Jillian, the sweet gal behind the Mimi Nicole blog. She also has her own event design company, called Mimi Nicole Event Design Boutique, and boy does she know what she’s doing. Even almost four months later, I’m still swooning over this bridal shower inspiration shoot she orchestrated! I was so excited to check out her wedding dress, and since she and I bonded early on over our similar styles, I was not surprised to see that she rocked one of my all-time favorite gowns.

My dress is Ivy and Aster Sweet Pea.

I knew my dress was the one when…After being extremely unimpressed with dress after dress, I was on the internet one night scrolling through wedding blogs when I saw a dress that completely stopped me in my tracks. It was romantic and soft and looked like the perfect garden wedding dress, so I clicked on the site. Lo and behold, they were having a trunk show in Beverly Hills the weekend I was going home! So, I called my Mimi and she made us an appointment.  The weekend arrived and we headed up to Beverly Hills, along with my Papa, to see if this dress would make all of my dreams come true! There were a few other dresses I took with me into the changing room, but I set aside the Sweet Pea to try on last.  All the other dresses were beautiful, but nothing compared to the Sweet Pea.

I saved it for last and it was so worth the wait.  The fabric of the Sweet Pea is just yummy–there really is no other word for it! It’s covered in this gorgeous velvet dotted swiss and it’s everything I had ever wanted in a dress! Now, my family is not really the crying type, but I knew it was the one when I stepped out of the dressing room and everyone was just beaming back at me! I had never felt more lovely (or comfortable!) in my life and I knew it was the perfect dress for me! :)

My favorite thing about my dress was…I loved the fabric–it was so light and airy, and the dotted swiss made it seem so playful! It was perfect for a summer garden wedding. It also had pockets, which I loved!

I accessorized my dress with…the Ivy and Aster Heirloom belt, a necklace borrowed from my Mimi, a bracelet, earrings, Gap ”Bow City” flats in sea foam green, and the  BHLDN ”Crystal Fern” hairpin by Jennifer Behr.

    Thank you so much, Jillian!

    Love,

    Lisa

  2. Dress Envy: Tamra of Ever Swoon

    July 5, 2012

Dress Envy posts are always some of my favorites to write, and starting this week, I’m so excited to bring a fun little twist to the series! Over the next few weeks, instead of my usual favorite dresses, I’ll be sharing the wedding dresses of some of my favorite bloggers. These ladies are some of the sweetest, most stylish brides out there, and I know you’ll love seeing their dresses and reading their stories as much as I have!

To kick things off in a truly sparkling fashion, here’s Tamra from Ever Swoon! Tamra is not only a wonderful blogger, she’s also the owner of her own boutique event planning and styling business in New York City. If anyone has style, it’s this girl. I’m so happy to have her, and her gorgeous Oscar de la Renta, on Something Pretty today!

My dress is Oscar de la Renta, purchased at Mark Ingram Bridal.

I knew my dress was the one when…my consultant at Mark Ingram Bridal called me and told me she had found the one!  I immediately had a feeling about it and went in to see it.  At that appointment, I first put on a Monique Lhuillier gown that I loved at my previous appointment and couldn’t stop thinking about.  Then they brought out the Oscar de la Renta gown that they called me about and I just swooned!  I continued to swoon after I put it on and I soon realized, I loved them BOTH!! I quickly realized what I needed to do, so I tried on both dresses again and thought of my husband.   Which one would my husband pick for me?  The answer to that question was completely clear, Oscar. I had two Oscars walking with me down the aisle: my Dad and my dress. What a fairy tale!

My favorite thing about my dress was…how I felt in it. I’ve never felt so confident before.

I accessorized my dress with…sparkling Christian Louboutin Heels, a Swarovski crystal belt, diamond chandelier earrings from Marisa Perry, and hair accessories–a crystal “M” for Michael and feathers.

    Thank you so much, Tamra!

    Love,

    Lisa
