1. Intimate California Winter Wedding

    December 26, 2011

    I’ve spent most of my life in warm climates–Singapore, Qatar, and Texas are not too big on winter! With that in mind, I definitely know the challenge of feeling festive and holiday-ready when it’s 75 degrees outside. I think that’s why I was so drawn to this gorgeous Santa Barbara wedding, photographed by Jessica Lewis Photography. There are palm trees outside, but the beautiful couple still created a cozy, wintery atmosphere at their 20-some-person wedding.

    Thank you so much to Jessica Lewis for the honor of posting this lovely wedding!

    Love,

    Lisa

  2. Love List

    December 23, 2011

    ‘Tis the Friday before Christmas…are you ready? :) I put together an extra-long love list this week to squeeze in enough Christmas inspiration to last me till next year. Enjoy!

    {I’m all about unique receptions, but when it comes to ceremonies, there’s nothing like a church ceremony with traditional vows to get me teary-eyed. By Meredith Perdue via Southern Weddings}

    {Possibly the prettiest and most delicious looking cake I have ever seen! Bake from Scratch via Hostess with the Mostess}

    {Am I the only one who has watched Elf, oh, four or five times this December? This Buddy the Elf-themed holiday brunch is adorable, and the details are amazing! Luna Photography via Pizzazerie}

    {Just as a wedding…and Christmas…should be. :) She Wanders Photography via Wedding Chicks}

    Wishing you a weekend  full of love, joy, and the blessings of Christ’s birth.
    Merry Christmas!!

    Lisa

  3. A Very Chic Christmas

    December 22, 2011

    To be honest, black and white is one of my least favorite wedding color schemes–maybe I’ve just been turned off by boring damask prints or calla lilies (sorry calla lily fans, they’re just my personal least favorite!). It also seems like one of the last color schemes that would be Christmas-y. I challenged myself with this inspiration board in both ways–I wanted to make a black and white board that I actually loved, and I wanted to make it perfect for Christmas. I think that with the right textures and details, it worked! No damask in sight. :)

    {A Very Chic Christmas}

    {Beautiful couple: Hillary Maybery Photography via Style Me Pretty| Church: Little White Dress Wedding Photography via Style Me Pretty| Black vintage car: Sara Gray via Style Me Pretty| Super stylish bridesmaids: Caught the Light via Once Wed| Ribbon-tied favor boxes: The Popes via Style Me Pretty| Lauduree-esque window decal: Attik72 via Design*Sponge| Black typewriter: Sunny 16 Photography via Style Me Pretty| Ivory dress with black bow: Delbarr Moradi via Style Me Pretty}

    My strategy for this board was finding black and white details that were elegant and sleek, but fun, and incorporating hints of Christmas, like a snowy venue and lots of ribbons and bows. It’s subtle, but I definitely think the festive element is there. What do you think?

    Love,

    Lisa

  4. Winter Bouquet

    December 12, 2011

    Good news, y’all…I have found the PERFECT winter bouquet! And thanks to the lovely ladies over at The Wedding Chicks, I also have the recipe for re-creating it. I wish I knew the names of more flowers so that I could write bouquet recipes myself! Is there a flower encyclopedia or something, and if there is, can someone send it to me for Christmas? ;)

    This bouquet was crafted by Lani Elizabeth, and to have your florist recreate it, just bring them this handy list:

    • White anemones (7 stems)
    • Wine burgundy ranunculus (7 stems)
    • White veronica (15 stems)
    • Bells of Ireland (5 stems)
    • Maiden hair fern (15 stems)
    • Asparagus fern (7 stems)
    • Wine mini calla lilies (7 stems)
    • Green hypericum berries (5 stems)
    • Berzelia berries (5 stems)
    • Green kermit mums (5 stems)

    Click here to see more of The Wedding Chicks’ bouquet recipes–I also love the Ranunculus and Peony bouquet, and the Succulent bouquet. Gorgeous!

    What are you favorite flowers for the winter?

    Love,

    Lisa

  5. Love List

    December 9, 2011

    I’m making a few little updates around here, and one of them is changing Thursday Love Lists to just “Love Lists” which will be posted on Friday. The main reason? I want to include things posted on my favorite blogs on Thursdays! :) Plus, it’s just a nice way to wrap up the week. There have been some seriously beautiful things going on this week, so here we go!

     {The launch of Mag Rouge, a new online bridal glossy, was one of the highlights of the week. Simply Bloom Photography did an incredible job on the cover shoot, and every page is breathtaking. Check it out here!}

     {Gold, brown, ivory, and sand make the most beautiful Christmas elopement shoot. Suddenly, I really want to use shades of brown in an inspiration board… :) From Green Wedding Shoes}

     {Circus weddings and photo shoots are always amazing, and this Water for Elephants-esque shoot is definitely no exception. So dramatic and elegant! From Style Me Pretty}

     {When poms or ribbons just won’t cut it, how about stringing marshmallows from the ceiling? This idea is so unique, and the result is stunning, especially for a winter wedding. From Green Wedding Shoes}

     {Dress perfection…seriously! How great are those two bridesmaid dresses on either side of the bride? Let alone that fabulous bridal gown. Love it all! From Style Me Pretty}

    Don’t forget to enter my Emily Ley print giveaway to celebrate my first year of blogging! The giveaway is open until next Thursday.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Love,

    Lisa
