1. April Inspiration

    April 3, 2012

    April is my favorite month! Not only do I love Easter, the beginning of spring, and for me, the school year wrapping up, but it’s also my birthday month! I feel quite lucky to have diamonds as a birthstone ;) I like to surround myself with my favorite things even more than usual in April, and here’s what I’ve rounded up to inspire me.

    Wedding: This gorgeous wedding was like a breath of fresh spring air! The bridesmaids were dressed in the prettiest lilac, the bouquets were gorgeous, the paper products were divine, and the bride and groom…well, they looked like this and took pictures on a swing. What’s not to love? I’ll be looking back at this one all month as a reminder of how beauty and joy are equally important in a wedding. Picture by SheWanders Photography via Style Me Pretty.

    Fashion: My style mantra for the month? Effortlessly ladylike. There’s nothing more fun than throwing on a swingy skirt on a warm spring day, and I’m determined to do just that as much as possible in the next few weeks. Blair Eadie is the perfect inspiration for girly outfits and flawless accessorizing (another element I’m working on!).Via Atlantic Pacific.

    Interior design: I’m sure y’all have seen Dallas Shaw’s office floating around on Pinterest, but seriously, isn’t it flawless? From the gold folding screen, to the white furniture, to the perfectly placed details (I spy the same Rifle Paper Co. calendar that I have!), everything is so pretty and inspiring. Picture by Alison Conklin via Poppin.

    Foodie: I went to visit my boyfriend over the weekend and learned something new about him–he makes the most insanely addicting banana cream pie. Surprise! Now that I’m back in Austin and craving that pie like crazy, I’d love to whip up a lighter version of the Southern staple, banana pudding. Via Southern Living.

    Holiday: Okay, so my upcoming 22nd birthday is not really a holiday, but y’all are welcome to celebrate with me by enjoying some cupcakes or champagne on April 15th! It’ll make tax day much more fun, I promise :) Via Oh Happy Day.

    What’s inspiring you this month?

    Love,

    Lisa

  2. Love List

    March 23, 2012

    Spring has officially sprung, and already, it has brought so many new beginnings! You may have noticed a few changes around Something Pretty lately, but if not, take a look at my adorable new social media buttons (from Twenty Three Oh One) and the FOUR beautiful ads that I’m thrilled to be sharing. I just transferred over to self-hosting to have more creative freedom with this little blog, and welcoming advertisements of products and companies that I love is incredibly exciting to me! Be sure to take a look and let me know what you think :) Now, on to some of the gosh darn prettiest spring inspiration out there this week…

    {Styled Creative and Alison Conklin are basically a dream team…remember their work on this amazing photo shoot? I love that they teamed up again to style and shoot this darling dessert table. By Alison Conklin Photography via Elizabeth Anne Designs}

    {I was SO thrilled for one of my best blog friends, Jillian from Mimi Nicole, this week, because a shoot she styled landed on Style Me Pretty’s bridal shower week! It is so gorgeous and elegant, and you will seriously be missing out if you don’t go look at every picture :) By Craig & Eva Sanders via Style Me Pretty}

    {More blog friend love! This time, it’s Bethany from Rinse.Repeat.‘s SURPRISE New Year’s Eve wedding…that’s right, her guests (including parents!) showed up thinking they were at her engagement party, and instead, found a wedding! So incredible, and what’s even better is that the gorgeous flowers and coordinating were handled by sweet friend Jacin of Lovely Little Details. By Flory Photo via Style Me Pretty}

    {I’m sure I’m not the only one delighting in the fact that the mint craze has made its way to bridal! Hoping to see lots more bridesmaid dresses in this perfect spring shade in the months to come. By Honey Honey Photography via 100 Layer Cake}

    What are you loving in this first week of spring? Have a wonderful weekend!

    Love,

    Lisa

  3. February Inspiration

    February 1, 2012

    Happy February 1st! At the beginning of November, I wrote a post on my inspirations for the month, and even though I really loved that post, I totally forgot about it for December and January. Regardless, I’m picking it up again for this month, and hopefully will remember it for the upcoming months as well! These are the pictures that are getting me revved up for February, and the ones I’m sure I’ll be referring back to all month long for inspiration.

    Wedding inspiration: I think this is one of my all-time favorite centerpieces. It’s traditional, but the way the flowers are arranged sticking out at different heights makes it look unmistakably modern. Combine that with red and pink, a super trendy color blocking pair that happens to be perfect for Valentine’s Day month, and you get a look that I just love. Picture by VUE Photography via Style Me Pretty.

    Fashion inspiration: I have tons of black and white staples, and since they don’t seem quite right in the summer, I’m planning to get as much use out of them now as I can. Basics in interesting silhouettes, plus pops of color, keep the look anything but boring!  Picture via Cupcakes and Cashmere.

    Interior design inspiration: What a perfect, girly-but-not-frilly living room! Between this picture and the black and white striped linens I featured in last week’s love list, this graphic print is definitely growing on me. Also, I really want that coffee table. Picture via Little Green Notebook.

    Foodie inspiration: My top two favorite qualities in desserts are uniqueness and indulgence-factor. These chocolate-dipped lavender shortbread cookies definitely fit the bill on both accounts! I tried lavender chocolate for the first time at Austin’s Junior League Christmas Market, and I loved how interesting and sophisticated it tasted. I can’t wait to try baking these! Recipe by freutcake for Forgiving Martha.

    Holiday inspiration: Sweet, simple, classic, and a touch whimsical. Just the way I like it! If I can use those four words to describe Valentine’s Day this year (albeit a belated Valentine’s Day, due to that whole long distance relationship thing :P), it’ll be perfect. What’s inspiring you at the beginning of this new month? Happy February!

    Love,

    Lisa

  4. Modern Romance

    January 10, 2012

    Thank you so much for all of your support for Something Pretty Online Wedding Design! I was so tickled pink reading your sweet comments yesterday, and if you missed the announcement, you can find it here. :)

    Today’s inspiration board is a test board that I made as an example of what a bride asking for an inspiration board from Something Pretty Online Wedding Design could expect to receive. Inspiration boards are so pretty and fun to make, but I also try to make them practical and intentional too. A bride should be able to take away ideas from every single picture. So, along with the board and sources, I would include an extensive “behind the board” note, to explain why I chose everything and what she can use from it. So, here’s what this bride-to-be asked for:

    “I definitely don’t want anything vintage or rustic at all, so nothing outdoors, no barns, no mason jars, etcetera. Something different but still girly and soft. Some things I love that I want to be inspired by are a pink watercolor painting, Kate Middleton’s periwinkle dress (here), Dylan’s Candy Bar, and 500 Days of Summer. Oh, and I really want a big tulle ballgown!”

    Behind the board: As much as I love a pretty vintage wedding, I can’t get enough of the modern elegance that’s sure to be big in 2012. Modern doesn’t have to mean bold or graphic, and this bride’s ideas were perfect for demonstrating a modern but very feminine design. An art gallery is the perfect venue–unique space, clean palette, and most importantly, no ugly carpets or lighting that are all too common in hotel ballrooms. A big tulle gown fulfills this bride’s tulle dreams, and the clean lines of Amsale Calista complement this space. The bridesmaids and florals are the perfect places to bring out the soft, romantic color palette of periwinkle, soft pink, and lavender, all found in the painting she mentioned. I would suggest flowy chiffon bridesmaid dresses, and big, lush flowers–hydrangea would be perfect, and comes in all the right colors. Since this bride has a sweet tooth, lots of the details come in the form of treats! A chic, streamlined s’mores bar is a great addition to a cocktail hour, since guests can mingle while toasting their marshmallows. Once inside the reception, a breakfast-for-dinner pancake buffet would be so unexpected and fun…not to mention, budget friendly! Colorful cake pops make adorable displays and desserts–lots of them grouped together would make such an impact, but they would also be great scattered on tables. For other decor, feminine and quirky is the way to go, such as sparkly figurines, colorful candles, and a bar cart stocked with all-pink drinks.

    Love,

    Lisa
