February Inspiration

Happy February 1st! At the beginning of November, I wrote a post on my inspirations for the month, and even though I really loved that post, I totally forgot about it for December and January. Regardless, I’m picking it up again for this month, and hopefully will remember it for the upcoming months as well! These are the pictures that are getting me revved up for February, and the ones I’m sure I’ll be referring back to all month long for inspiration.

Wedding inspiration: I think this is one of my all-time favorite centerpieces. It’s traditional, but the way the flowers are arranged sticking out at different heights makes it look unmistakably modern. Combine that with red and pink, a super trendy color blocking pair that happens to be perfect for Valentine’s Day month, and you get a look that I just love. Fashion inspiration: I have tons of black and white staples, and since they don’t seem quite right in the summer, I’m planning to get as much use out of them now as I can. Basics in interesting silhouettes, plus pops of color, keep the look anything but boring!  Picture via Cupcakes and Cashmere.

Interior design inspiration: What a perfect, girly-but-not-frilly living room! Between this picture and the black and white striped linens I featured in last week’s love list, this graphic print is definitely growing on me. Also, I really want that coffee table. Picture via Little Green Notebook.

Foodie inspiration: My top two favorite qualities in desserts are uniqueness and indulgence-factor. These chocolate-dipped lavender shortbread cookies definitely fit the bill on both accounts! I tried lavender chocolate for the first time at Austin’s Junior League Christmas Market, and I loved how interesting and sophisticated it tasted. I can’t wait to try baking these! Holiday inspiration: Sweet, simple, classic, and a touch whimsical. Just the way I like it! If I can use those four words to describe Valentine’s Day this year (albeit a belated Valentine’s Day, due to that whole long distance relationship thing :P), it’ll be perfect. What’s inspiring you at the beginning of this new month? Happy February!

Love List

How has everyone’s first week of 2012 been? I’ve been feeling super motivated, inspired, and excited ever since the calender changed, and I can only hope that this attitude sticks around for awhile! I’m currently putting the finishing touches on a project that I’ll be unveiling on Monday, so be sure to check back then. :) In the meantime, here are some of the pretty things that have gotten my 2012 off to a gorgeous start.

For even more inspiration, check out two amazing online magazines that came out with new issues this week. Style Me Pretty published their “Best of 2011″ E-Glossy, which included tons of my personal favorite weddings, and Matchbook Magazine published their one-year anniversary January issue!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Winter Lavender

Ever since I started obsessing over winter weddings, I’ve been on inspiration overload–isn’t that the best part of discovering something new that you love? The other week, my sister commented on this gorgeous Real Wedding feature, saying that a winter wedding in a warm place is the best of both worlds, and I couldn’t agree more. With that idea in mind, I created this winter-y inspiration board using one of my favorite wedding flowers–lavender. Lavender and France go hand-in-hand for me, ever since a trip to Provence a few years ago, so I incorporated some pretty French-inspired details as well. Plus, I needed an excuse to use that seriously amazing dress shot with the Eiffel Tower in the background. :)

Of course, I wanted to use lots of lavender (the flower, color, and flavor–check out that lavender hot chocolate!), but I also wanted to keep in mind that this is a winter board, so a wedding would probably take place inside. Cue the ornate ballroom and lots of clean white design elements, accented with just a touch of Paris-inspired black lace. There’s nothing that makes me cringe more than purple event lighting, so this wedding would need as much natural light as possible, evoking a sense of the outdoors that lavender is usually seen in.

I’m pretty happy with how this board turned out! What are your thoughts?

Ethereal Winter Wedding Styled Shoot

Happy New Year! Anyone else have a feeling that 2012 is going to be a great one? :)

To start off the year, I’m thrilled to share this ethereal and elegant wedding photo shoot with you. I’ve always associated January with the perfect shade of icy blue, and this shoot, styled by Kio Kreations and photographed by Redwall Photography, used the color to perfection. I love this shoot as an example of playing with a monochromatic palette in interesting ways–an idea I hope we’ll see more of this year!

Thank you to Tasha Schalk of Redwall Photography for the honor of posting her beautiful pictures!

What wedding trends do you hope to see more of this year?

Dress Envy

It’s not too terribly often that I see a wedding or photo shoot that I consider completely perfect. Usually there’s a detail or two that’s not necessarily my favorite, or I’m not crazy about one thing or another. Not so with a recent shoot on Style Me Pretty, expertly styled by Simply Fabulous Events and Design, and photographed to perfection by Emily Steffen. I pinned the heck out of this shoot, not to mention saved a few pictures into my personal future wedding file! One of the prettiest parts of the shoot is the gorgeous model and her incredible dress–which, get this, consists of a frothy blue tulle skirt she sewed herself, topped with a sparkly shirt from Target! Target, y’all! I am 100% smitten. Check out how beautiful it is!

How dreamy!! Now run, don’t walk, to go admire the rest of the shoot. Sparkly linens, mercury glass, baby’s breath, and flurrying snow, all on Style Me Pretty.

Love,

Lisa
